COVID19-Camping Information

Port San Luis is in Region 1 - Southern CA

At this time, Region 1 is under a Regional Stay At Home Order.  Learn More Here.

Currently, the Port San Luis Campground is CLOSED to overnight camping.  At this time, a re-open date has yet to be determined.

If you have a reservation through January 1, 2021, information will be emailed to you regarding your reservation.


On December 3, 2020, the State announced a Regional Stay at Home Order will go into effect in regions with less than 15 percent of ICU bed capacity available.  Expected closures and/or limited operations at Port San Luis include the following:

  • Overnight Camping
  • Restaurants - take-out or pick-up
  • Laundry Facility
  • Retail - indoor operations at 20% capacity, with entrance metering and no eating and no drinking in stores.

Thank you for your interest in camping at Port San Luis Harbor.  To meet the requirements as provided by the California Department of Public Health, the information below is provided to help all of our visitors have a safe experience while visiting the Port and Avila Beach.

If you have made a reservation, please review the following information:

  1. If you or someone in your household is exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, please cancel your reservation.  Please email your cancellation to campingrefunds@portsanluis.com.
  • Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea

Please do your part during your stay:

  1. Maintain 6-foot distance from our Camp Hosts and District Staff.
  2. If unable to maintain a 6-foot distance from our Camp Hosts and District Staff, a face mask must be worn for everyone’s protection.
  3. The use of a face covering is required in public spaces when maintaining a physical distance of 6 feet from persons who are not members of the same household or residence is not feasible.
  4. Do not gather in groups and avoid crowded places and mass gatherings.
  5. Do not mix households in your campsite.
  6. When possible, please use your own toilet and shower/bathing equipment, rather than the public facilities.
  • All Cancellations and/or Modifications will incur a $15 fee per transaction
  • 72 HOURS PRIOR TO RESERVATION START DATE:  100%, minus $10 reservation fee and $15 Cancellation/Modification fee
  • 48 HOURS PRIOR TO RESERVATION START DATE:  50%, minus $10 reservation fee and $15 Cancellation/Modification fee
  • LESS THAN 48 HOURS PRIOR TO RESERVATION START DATE:  no refunds
  • Only two (2) reservation cancellations and/or modifications are allowed calendar year.  
  • Campers required to leave due to the violation of the Port San Luis Harbor District Camping Rules & Regulations, District Ordinances, and any other applicable County, State, or Federal law are not eligible for a refund.
