Lighthouse Hikes

Docent led hikes along the Pecho Coast Trail are available every Saturday at 9 AM.

There is no need for individuals or small groups to make a reservation; hikers can simply show up and meet trail docents at 8:45 AM at the "Fisherman's Memorial," which is located on the right hand side of the Port San Luis Harbor parking lot. The memorial is a fountain with dolphin statues.

When you meet the docents, you may choose a fast paced hike with fewer stops and an average hiking time of 3 hours, or a slower paced hike averaging 4 hours. All hikes include a stop at the Point San Luis Lighthouse.

Hikers are reminded that the Pecho Coast Trail has steep cliffs, crumbling earth and narrow trails. All hikers must sign a waiver of injury responsibility, be at least 9 years of age, hike on a regular basis, and wear sturdy shoes.

Please bring water, as there is no potable water available on the trail.

Also, note that in the event of rain or inclement weather, hikes will be cancelled.

If you have a group of 10 or more hikers please call 805-546-5279 again that number is 805-546-5279 and leave your name and phone number.
